Reparing your locks with Sulfate free Shampoo

Welcome back to my blog!
I'm ready to be more active again after a long summer of weddings, holidays and fun!  Now that summer is ending and my hair is suffering from all the chlorine, sun and sea salt, I wanted to share something that has been really effective in restoring it back to its original condition, -maybe even better!

Are you struggling to repair your dry and damaged locks? As you fellow curly girls may or may not know, it is recommended that we use Shampoo that is 'Sulfate free', however Sulfate free products are also a good option for those of us with thin or coloured hair.

If you don't already know, Sulfate is a type of detergent that can also be found in soaps and toothpastes, and is renound for making hair weak and brittle, along with fading hair dye faster. Using a Sulfate free shampoo is less harmful to your scalp, reducing irritation, and also increases moisture retention in the hair, reducing dryness and my curly girls i'm sure you'll agree that we need all the moisture that we can get!

I've been using the OGX nourishing coconut milk shampoo and conditioner and have found it to be exactly what it says on the tin, I will be sticking with this product for good now!
The shampoo contains egg white proteins, adding nourishment, shine and volume to your hair. It also contains coconut oils and coconut milk for hydration and balance and I can honestly say that my curls feel much more hydrated and nourished, with significantly less frizz. The products also work well when using heat, adding a healthy shine to my hair when straightened.

The reason that I opted for this product was the availability and price, I picked them up for £6.99 each in boots for 385ml which is quite large, I would say they are definitely good value and you should all go and see what difference a sulfate free product will make to your hair.
Have you ever tried sulfate free?

What's In My Everyday Summer Bag

Hey everyone, so this week i'm going to share with you what's in my bag, I haven't done one since last year so I thought it was about time! This is my gorgeous little bag from Accessorize,  I actually only just got it as it was a present from my mum after she'd been to London, however it's now in the sale for £13.50, so I suggest you all get your hands on it fast!

So, inside my bag there are two compartments, the first one holds just my sunglasses which are these vintage-y cream ones from Aspire Style, I think they were only £12 which is quite good.

I like to keep my sunglasses separate because somehow they always end up scratched! Anyway, the remaining contents of my bag are just in the larger compartment, starting with my Cath Kidston purse (which just contains money, cards, my buspass, a random chapstick and a hair tie).

I then have a little hairbrush from Claire's Accessories which I only usually carry with me if my hair is straight and down, and some mini sized Ted Baker perfume, in a very pretty bottle (ooh la la).

Of course, I have my phone in my bag and sometimes a pair of earphones, and today I had a little Vaseline too as my shoes were rubbing :( ... Anyway.. lastly I have a little purse from Newlook containing concealer, a little mirror and my lipstick of the day -which by the way was the Rimmel Kate Moss in 38, very beautiful for summer!

Thanks for reading, let me know of any post ideas as I haven't actually planned next week's yet!

DIY: Fun Piñata Celebration Cake!

Hey everyone, boy has it been long since I did a baking post! I made this novelty cake for my friends birthday last week and it was a hit, everyone loved it but they were all so confused as to how the smarties got inside the cake, and actually it was very easy! I thought i'd share this with you all as it's a bit of fun, great for loads of occasions and i've seen it all over the internet, so here you go.

So, the cake needs to be made up of three parts, or three cakes of equal sizes (I used a very simple recipe of 250g of butter, sugar, flour and 4 eggs). You are then going to need to cut a hole in the centre of two of the cakes using a cookie cutter in the size of your choice.

Stack the two cakes with a hole in the middle and use jam or buttercream to secure them, and then fill the hole with smarties or your desired sweets (don't overfill of you may burst the cake!) next layer more jam on top and stack your final cake to finish.

I just piped simple pink buttercream in swirls to decorate my cake but you could use whatever you wanted and voila! There you have it, your very own cake that looks much more complicated than it is, so let me know if you try it, or if you have any other suggestions for fun cakes that I should try out!

Whats On My Face Wednesday

Hey guys, a bit of a different post today, mid-week, I just thought it would be a nice change to show you what i'm actually wearing on my face, so here goes!

Body shop Instablur primer, No7 foundation in Calico. I use the collection concealer under my eyes and then apply the Rimmel concealer stick on any spots using that tiny little real techniques brush, I skipped powder this day as my skin was especially dry.

I used the bronzer in the Sleek contour kit to contour my cheek bones and then applied a little of the Maybeline Jelly Glow on the apples of my cheeks using the Zoeva face shape, this is quite a subtle blush but works really nicely on dry skin. I then highlighted using the same palette.

I used Mac 'Painterly' paint pot, then ''Factory' from the Naked 3 all over my lid and 'Trick' on the
inner corners using the brush that came with the palette. I then used 'Faint' form the Naked Basics palette in my crease using the Zoeva Petite Crease brush. To finish I used the soft brown Khol Kajal eyeliner from Rimmel to create a thin line and a soft wing, and curled my eyelashes and applied the Benefit They're real mascara.

I like to use any lip balm with an SPF as they last longer, -this one is by Malibu. I then applied a gloss on my lips, my favourites are by Barry M but this is just an old 'MIRROR MIRROR' gloss.

Tea and Cake in Leamington Spa

Hey readers, another lifestyle post for you today, this ones courtesy of my best friend Charlotte.
We decided not to do birthday presents this year but instead have a day out doing something different, so she treated me to brunch in this beautiful vintage tea room in Leamington Spa, and then shopping. It was such a fun day spending time together and so I wanted to share it with you all, the tea room was lovely and the food was delightful but most of all it was nice to have made time for each other and have a fun day out!

Our day out just had me thinking, don't we all forget sometimes that life isn't all about giving presents and spending money? We don't look back on life and necessarily remember gifts, but instead we remember memories and are thankful for time spent with those around us, so if you have a friends birthday coming up, just bear this in mind, -it doesn't have to cost much, just something a little different, and it'll be fun for both of you! Thanks for reading!

We All Scream For Ice Cream!!

Helloooo! I wasn't actually going to do a post this week as I didn't feel like I had prepared anything, but i'm on such a roll with doing blogposts every week and I didn't want to break the cycle!

Anyway, last year, this chain of ice cream parlours popped up all over the place, and last week I visited one for the first time. The parlour has a very 50's retro theme and its such a lovely calm atmosphere to sit with a friend and talk in, it reminds me of a tea room type venue.

The pricing is reasonable, I pain around £5 for a chocolate sundae with caramel sauce and clotted cream which was gorgeous, and we sat in there for around 45 mins. I thought it was really nice and different, a really lovely idea!

Are there ice cream parlours near you? Has a 'Lickety Lick' popped up where you live?

The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter

As promised, a new post each Sunday, -I'm doing well, don't you think?
Anyway, I just wanted to talk to you all a little bit about this gorgeous cleansing butter from the body shop, I know my posts seem to be very beauty orientated recently but I'm really enjoying a few new products at the moment so that's what I'm writing about, I think my next post will be lifestyle anyway.

I actually purchased this product after reading Caroline Hirons' blog, I'm sure you're all familiar with her brilliant blog but if not check it out, -I'm sure you'll find it useful, but anyway, while reading her 'dry skin cheat sheet' I actually realised that I should NOT be using a foaming cleanser,
-apparently they dry out your skin.

I wanted a high street product and this one retails at £12, I honestly cannot stress enough how much I love this product, when I massage it into my skin it dissolves even my waterproof mascara so fast and my skin feels so clean when I've washed it off. No residue is left on my face after and I love using it before bed and in the morning, its not greasy at all and i would probably agree with the description that it is suitable for all skin types, however maybe read Caroline's blog to make sure you find the right product for you!

What kind of cleanser do you use, and how much would you pay for a good cleanser?
 Thanks for reading!

Zoeva Rose Golden Luxury Brush Review

Oh my gosh I am so in love with these brushes! I received them as a birthday present on Thursday and just had to share them with you! I know there are already so many reviews out there and I'd  be surprised if you haven't heard of them but I just wanted to share with you why I love them, so here goes!

Rose Golden Luxury Set-€58
The set includes 8 beautiful rose gold coloured
brushes and a matching travel bag, so not a bad price.  I expected to like the brushes as I've heard so many people talk about them, and I love them! The brushes are a mixture of natural and synthetic fibres and this makes them super soft and also allows fast drying time after they've been washed. I love using the buffing brush with a light foundation that is very liquidy as it is very dense, I didn't get on with it with my NARS, - I think the formula was too thick.

My favourites from the set are the Luxe Soft Definer and the Luxe Petit Crease, they're so fluffy and amazing at blending, I actually prefer them to real techniques! I also love the face shape brush for cream blushes but they're all gorgeous! The only thing that I think this set is missing is a good bronzer brush, there isn't really any that appeal to me to use with bronzer, however other than that they're lovely, and If you are considering investing I would recommend them as I think this set has a good selection of brushes,
 What brushes do you use?

Lightweight Foundations & BB Creams

Hey! As you know I've been loving my NARS Sheer Glow foundation recently, but as I said, I don't use it on an every day basis and with the weather getting hotter, I've been enjoying a much lighter base. The past few months I've been trying out a few different products and wanted to share with you my opinion on each of them, -good or bad. So here goes!

  No7 Essentially Natural Foundation

1. Colour - I wear the colour 'Calico' and its the perfect shade for me, No7 actually do a 'colour match test' instore which is really helpful to find the right shade.

2. Formula
The description of this product is lightweight/medium coverage, however I would call it lightweight, its a very naturally finish and is suitable for all skin types. The formula is so light that I just apply it and rub it in with my fingers.

3. Price - £9.99 Boots, I think this is a reasonable price as the product is long lasting and effective.

Overall- This is my personal favourite because its the most natural looking of the products and I've repurchased this so many times, I think if you're just getting into make up this would be the perfect first 'foundation'.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum

1. Colour- '53 Vanilla' a similar colour to the No7 product but a little bit darker, If I were to repurchase I might try a lighter shade.

2. Formula- A thicker consistency than the No7 product but more moisturizing with a dewy finish, I usually use a brush or beauty blender with this one.

3. Price - £10.99, an okay price, to me this seems a little much for this product as Its not my favourite choice of the three.

Overall - A good product, especially for correcting uneven skin tone, however I won't re-purchase this because I have found products that I prefer, I think its a thicker consistency because it a 'serum' which could be good for normal skin/combination skin.

The Body Shop - All-In-One BB Cream

1. Colour-  I wear the shade 00 as the woman in the shop suggested I used, the product comes out white like a cream but the colour develops as you rub it in.

2. Formula - As the colour develops when you rub it in, as soon as you start to rub it in the product begins to set and it can be very difficult to blend after its set, leaving an orange residue on your skin. I actually do like this product if you rub it in quick enough!

3.Price- £12.99

Overall-  Usually this is a nice product, however I now feel conscious of orange-ness, I think if you have oily skin this would be the perfect product for you because it tends to cling to dry skin a little, -maybe that's why the orange-ness??

Quite a long post today, but thanks for reading guys! I wanted to show swatches but all three of the products looked pretty much the same on camera, so there wasn't really much point. Leave me a comment of your favourite summer base, i'd love to find some more good ones!

Thanks again for reading lovelies!

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation Review

For years now, i've struggled with foundations. I tend to go for a very natural make-up look, however Sometimes my make-up look is so natural, that it looks like I am wearing nothing on my face atall, -now this might be how you like it but if I am spending time on my appearance at 6:30 am, I'd quite like it to be noticeable! Anyway, i'd tried various foundations, serums and bb creams but never found one with just the right amount of coverage that didn't make my skin too dry, -until now!

I'd been eyeing up this product for a while now, i'd seen youtubers and bloggers using it, and I read up that it was the best foundation for dry skin, so I gave in to temptation and popped into selfridges.

I purchased the foundation in the colour Light 2, 'Mont Blanc' which is the most perfect colour for me that i've ever found, I am so pleased with it, though if you intend to invest in this, at £31, I would suggest you get colour tested instore first as at this price you really don't want to buy the wrong colour! £31 was a little out of budget but I was willing to pay it for a product that I really loved.

This foundation is medium to full coverage on me, I don't use it on school days however I use it daily on weekends/in holidays and on nights out. I tend to combine it with a fairly light coverage concealer such as the Rimmel Wake me up, and I love the dewy but natural finish that this product provides, -I think this is why I love it for dry skin. It's not too heavy and stays well with a good primer, i'd say its a comfortable foundation to wear.

Its an easy product to apply, I've tried applying with my fingers and the beauty blender, but I think it applies best with a buffing brush (I use the RT's) I wouldn't suggest using this if you were short on time however as it can take a little longer to buff in than a thinner foundation. The only fault is that I don't have a pump, everywhere was sold out! I love the luxorious packaging too, it feels very chic! Well done, NARS! Now just get the pump problem sorted!

Have you tried any high end foundations?

Segovia 2015

Waheeyyy I'm back!! hope you're all well. In case you're new around here, I have been away for eight days on work experience in Spain with the company 'Halsbury Travel' and honestly it was such a good experience. I study Spanish A level so this was a great opportunity to practice and improve my language since the locals don't really speak English. I've loved my time there, my work placement was in a nursery just up the road from the hotel and I enjoyed celebrating the 'Carnaval' time with the children very much- In Spain, the carnival goes on for days and everyone gets dressed up, its great fun! Anyway I just wanted to show you some photos from the trip, Segovia is a very beautiful place.

La Catedral - Plaza Mayor

I don't actually know where this was, but a little church

El Aqueducto de Segovia

This is a photo of our group outside the castle 'Alcazar de Segovia'. This is actually the real castle that the Disney castle is based on, you can see the resemblance however its clearer from the other side, -look it up! very pretty!

Thanks for reading Lovelies, post again soon :)

Collective haul for Spain! :)

Hello February, and what a successful shopping trip to start the month off! This haul is a bit of a mix, some things I've been meaning to pick up for a while now, and some things were spur of the moment but I needed some more clothes to take with me on my Spanish work experience and also a few little bits for hand luggage. On that note, next week I will be away, so unless I can find the time in the week to schedule a post, I'm not sure that there will be one. I will do my best all the same :). I hope you enjoy seeing my purchases, let me know what you think about them!

1. Newlook

1. Dark Blue Jeggings
I love these things, I have another pair and they are a great investment, -they look exactly like jeans because the material is so thick, but they are so much more comfortable, I think these were such good value for money at just £15.00!

2. Navy Trousers
I picked these up in the sale for just £8 and I love them, the belt that came with them has a gorgeous gold belt and I love the slim fit of these trousers, definitely a steal at that price!

3. Navy and White Stripe Jumper
This really looks like nothing off but with jeans or the navy trousers it looked really nice, -quite 60's ish, £15.00 I think is reasonable for this, But there is a nice blue turtle neck in newlook that I really think I should have bought, -maybe I'll buy it online.

1. Black Brogue Style Shoe
I love these! I wanted some little brown brogues for a long time now, but when I saw these, I knew I wanted them. They are a simple lace up shoe with a little bit of a point and a brown sole, not quite a brogue really, and at £24.99 I think these will be well loved as all I have been wearing recently is boots!

1. Black Handbag
I have to say, this isn't my favourite purchase but at just £10.00 I decided it will do for now. I'm thinking of using this for hand luggage because it's actually fairly big, but I'm not sure yet.

2. 3 Pairs Shoe Liners
£2.00, Adorable huh? I just thought these might look cute with the shoes, don't you agree?

3. Pink Cosmetics Bag
This bag is exactly what I was looking for! It can be quite hard to find the right sized travel make up bag but this is the one for me, at just £3.00 I had no doubts.

4/5. Mini travel sized products
Hand sanitizer- 60p, Simple Facial Wash- £1

As you can see in the top photo, I also purchased a copy of 'Love, Tanya' by Tanya Burr from Waterstones for £10, I've already had a flick through and I really like it, Its exactly my kind of book, the type of book that you can always have a flick through and refer back to whether it be hairstyles, make up tips, health and fitness, I just really like this book, well done, Tan! Thanks for reading, Hope January has treated you well!

Casual Favourites

Very short *cough* and late post today, Its 11:21 and I have nothing planned but I just wanted to share with you some things that I have been enjoying, a sort of weird favourites, -if you will.

1. My 'One Line A Day' book - I spoke about this previously and expressed my excitement to start it and I'm enjoying it so much! It can be a little inconvenient to find the time daily but having nearly completed a month, it is so lovely to be able to look back on what I did, or how I felt on each day, even if I did nothing. I find that it really helps to find the best in every day when you are documenting it somewhere.

2. Smiling and appreciating- A simple one but lets be honest, it is so easy to get caught up in our own hectic lives and we don't always stop and look around us, Smiling really does make you feel good, and it's contagious, you have the power to influence a persons day, -use it! As for appreciating, do you ever hear a song that really makes you reflect on your life and just somehow connects with you? I am an easily stressed and sometimes very worried person, but I do realise that I have it pretty easy, I have the best friends in the world and I have amazing opportunities that are not open to everyone, I'm not saying that you have to thank and thank and thank people, but just show that you are thankful, it's nice.

3. I have also been loving TV Series', AHS, Broadchurch, even Sex And The City has made a comeback! any suggestions anyone?

I hope you didn't mind my little random post, I have enjoyed writing exactly what is on my mind right now without a plan, something different I suppose. Thanks so much for reading and being lovely,

Beauty Wishlist!

Hey everyone! So this is a bit of a bonus post for you all today as usually I only post on Sundays, but don't worry, you will still get your Sunday post! Anyway, this is what i've been lusting over for the past month or so...isn't it all so beautiful?! I will hopefully be investing in a few of these products tomorrow whilst shopping but I don't know if I can justify the price of some of them...But hey, a girl can dream!

1. Zoeva Rose Gold Collection: Oh my, isn't rose gold just to die for? I am so in love with all things rose gold, and if you don't already know, I am super addicted to make up brushes, so these are just perfect for me, and I so want them! I've come very close to buying them many times but with them retailing at 65 Euro (without p&p AND in GBP) I have just never really felt like I can splash out on these, especially as I don't actually need them, but i'm hoping that some day these will be sitting in a lovely little pot on my dressing table..please..

2. Garnier Ultimate Blends Sleek Perfecter Hair oil: Wow, that was a mouthful! I've heard so much good feedback about this product repairing split ends, and as i've recently had my hair cut, I want to keep it neat. This product retails at £9.99, which sounds expensive for high street but for a 150ml decent product that works as a heat protectant too, I think its reasonable.

3.Victoria Secret Body Mist: particularly 'Love Spell' This peach and white jasmine scent is my all time favourite, and is a beautiful sweet smell that EVERYONE seems to love! I'm pretty sure it retails in the UK at around £12, but the VS near me sells them for 5 for £30, so clearly I can't just get one! <3

4. NARS sheer glow foundation: Pretty sure my colour is 'Santa Fe', I've heard so much about this but I'm just not wearing foundation enough to splash out around £30 for this! I currently use The Bodyshop BB cream, but when I do run out of my foundation, I might have to invest in this.

5. The Bodyshop Honeycomb Bronzer: Honestly, this picture does this product no justice, its a gorgeously pigmented bronzer, not completely matt but could be used to contour as it barely has any shimmer. I think its retailing in the UK at £13, which isn't bad value if you see it, it's not orange undertoned so shade 02 looks beautiful on pale skin, After seeing it on my friend I simply must have it!

So that concludes my wishlist! Tell me whats on yours? Thanks for reading,

Make 2015 Your Year!

For those super observant readers out there, you may have noticed that I didn't post yesterday,(hence today's post), I did have this post planned but I actually got distracted editing the appearance of my blog,- as you can see, I didn't get very far! I have changed a few little things and it will be a work in progress but for any fellow bloggers out there, do you have any suggestions of how to make my blog more professional? photography especially, I am not content with my photography in the slightest. Ideas please?!

Moving swiftly on, just a short one for you all today, and this post is kind of about my personal goal, which I think could be adapted to fit anyone.

Towards the end of 2014, I decided that I'd had enough of turning opportunities down, though I was not a very confident person and stepping outside my comfort zone was not appealing to me. A summer programme in 'NCS with The Challenge' came up and even though all my friends took part, I turned it away. WRONG MOVE. Luckily for me I was given the chance to take part in NCS' autumn programme, which was much shorter,
so I just said 'yes'.

Honestly, I do wish I'd done the summer scheme because it was so much longer, but just in my week taking part I gained so much as a person, I am much more confident in public speaking, a skill that will really benefit me in the future, so I urge you, if the chance happens to come up for you to take part in NCS, please JUST SAY YES!
You can thank me later!

I have decided to make 2015 my year, starting with a big opportunity that I have accepted for this February, I am going to do work experience in Spain for a week and a half. (I do study Spanish by the way, i'm not that spontaneous) but my point is, that if I can say yes to this, I think you too can accept some opportunities!

I'm really looking forward to sharing my exciting experiences this year through this blog, starting with my trip to Spain! This is a new year, full of new chances, you just have to push yourself!

Happy New Year!!
